Meet the expert.

Neville Robertson

I am a HPCSA registered counselling psychologist in independent practice and completed my BA, BA (Hon), MSc Research Psychology and MHSc Counselling psychology at the North-West University. My internship was completed at the Centre for Health and Human Performance: Psychology and Wellbeing where I worked with individual clients from various demographics backgrounds (including children, adolescents, and adults), conducted group therapy sessions, couples counselling, and provided various workshops on multiple topics.

During this time, I was part of a multidisciplinary team consisting of Psychiatrists, Speech language therapists, clinical psychologists, social workers, and pediatric neurologists.

Working with adults and couples and helping to improve your wellbeing and day-to-day functioning is one of my passions.  My aim is to provide an empathic and comfortable environment that enables you as client to engage in self exploration and self-understanding. Often, I feel that the challenges or symptoms we experience tip our lives out of balance. Providing you with the necessary tools and knowledge to regain balance and work towards sustainable change and a more fulfilling life remains a fundamental goal. I am an evidence-based practitioner and value the therapeutic relationship and strive to maintain professional and ethical standards. My experiences include a variety of therapeutic frameworks (i.e., Schema therapy, CBT and DBT) and thus prefer to work from an integrative perspective. My approach however is tailored to your individual needs.

On a final note, it is understandable that in life we all have ups and downs. The downs do not necessarily mean that you have a mental disorder.  Sometimes we just need a little help to bring our life back to balance and gain some perspective. This can help us to regain control and achieve the goals we set out to.
